Moustache exhibition

Imagine an art club that tries to display art. At one point, one of the board members of the club gets tired of the trend of curation and inbound selection for exhibitions and makes up a fictitious artist that possibly be exhibited. After some time, it’s gets decided a time for “him”. The proceedings is to go to prostate cancer research and the exhibition was scheduled for november 2015. November being the “themed month” for “Moustache” campaigns related to prostate cancer research fund raising. It was all above board.

The exhibition opened.

Part of Stefan Andersson Moustache exhibition (part of giant coffee flavoured half-moustache in front)
“Sweet Jesus” – (2015) Squid ink on matrix of sugar cubes 50×50 cm, 2.1 kg sugar (still for sale)

After a month, the board decided to buy two paintings (proceedings still, directly to fund raising)

“Hidden” – (2015) Hemp and organic colour 50×50 cm (now in private ownership)
“The believer” – (2015) Silver photograph with a Muscovado sugar moustache. (Destroyed in a fire)

At that point, when the exhibition ended, the whole faux artist plot was revealed as “part of the exhibition”. The chair of the board was less than not amused and withdraw the decision of buying anything as no payments to fund raising had been made. The decision was motivated by the fact that this artist “Stefan Andersson” was not an established artist.

So a conclusion could be that the art club indirectly confessed that they did not believe in “art”. Whatever that means.
